Students Present Poster at 23rd Japanese EC Symposium

2023-03-10

Four students, Mario, Felipe, Alexandre and Jair, in front of two posters.

Six students from our laboratory participated in the 23rd Symposium of the Japanese Society of Evolutionary Computation. This symposium is organized three times per year by the JSEC, and is frankly one of my favorite academic events.

This time, our laboratory presented two posters, based on the work that we submitted recently to GECCO:

  1. "Can We Automatically Measure Similarity of Optimization Problems?" -- By Jair Pereira, who proposes some automated metrics for meta-heuristic similarity.
  2. "AbCD: A Component-wise Adjustable Framework for Dynamic Optimization Problems" -- By Alexandre Mascarenhas, the work says what it is on the tin :-)

In particular, Alexandre's poster was the second most voted for Best Poster in the event, which is really good for his first academic presentation! As Yuri put it "I hope the GECCO reviewers have a similar reaction".
